Airtasker is committed to building a community based on trust and respect. Repeatedly posting false (spam) tasks creates poor experiences for our Taskers and is in breach of our Community Guidelines.
Look out below for important tips on how to use Airtasker safely and protect your information before making offers when browsing tasks.
Things to look out for before making a bid:
-
The task has no location - the majority of spam tasks do not share a location and are instead listed as “remote” tasks. Adjust your filters to view “In person” tasks, unless you are specifically looking for online tasks.
-
The task is a job position - spammers post enticing job openings and positions, but they aren’t real. Airtasker is not a job board and legitimate companies don’t use it for that purpose.
-
The price seems too good to be true - spammers use high prices to get your attention, but they have no intention of paying. If someone is offering a lot of money for very little work, it is likely spam.
-
The poster is asking for your contact information - spammers’ goal is to get your information. You should only share contact information with a poster in your private messages after they have assigned a job to you.
-
The task is vague. Whether it's the task title, or the description if it's not clear what the task might entail, and states things like "I need a serious worker" and nothing else, it is a spam task.
-
Never share your phone number or email address with a poster who hasn’t assigned a task to you.
-
Never purchase anything in order to complete a task. Exception: materials for a local task where you are delivering items in person.
-
Always flag spam when you see it, by clicking the "Report this task”
