What can I do to build trust in my Tasker?

Trust and Safety are really important concepts to us at Airtasker. Check out the below tips for steps you can take to help you feel more secure around other members on the platform:

Look for profile badges

Airtasker has created a range of optional badges that our members can apply for to verify their identity and qualifications. Look out for the following:

• ID Badge: This means that our verification partners have checked that the Tasker’s ID matches the details on their Airtasker profile.
• Police Check Badge (Australia only): This means that the Tasker has no Disclosable Court Outcomes (i.e. has a clean police history) at the time of the check, performed by National Crime Check.
• Licence badges (Australia only): We have a range of badges that confirm a Tasker’s qualification in different trades. If a Tasker has one of these badges, it means that they have a current licence in that field, as checked through our verifications provider.

Ask to see an ID or licence

If a Tasker doesn’t have the above badges, (especially for locations outside of Australia where these badges do not yet exist), you can ask to see a copy of their documents. It’s a good idea to ask to see any qualification documents before the day of the task - you can use the private messaging feature to get the information you need. We recommend that if you do this, you offer up your own documents, such as your ID, as this will help form trust between you and the other member.

Do an official VAT or ABN/ACN search

For your peace of mind it is best to confirm things your Tasker has said. If they have mentioned having a business with lots of experience, you can ask for their ABN/ACN (in Australia) or VAT number (in Europe), and search it in the official databases.

• ABN/ACN via the Australian Government.
• VAT via the European Commission.

Make sure the person you assign is the one who shows up for the task

This is important not only for trust purposes but also for insurance reasons. Insurance won’t be valid if the person you assign isn’t there during the task. If a Tasker says they will send someone else on their behalf, let them know you’re not comfortable with that and want them to do it instead.

Be aware of who is helping your Tasker

Taskers can bring helpers along to assist on larger tasks, as long as these helpers have their own Airtasker accounts too. We’d recommend asking your Tasker if they have a helper coming along, and if they do, ask for their Airtasker details as well.
