Badges play a crucial role in fostering trust within the Airtasker community. All members are encouraged to have a badge on their profiles.
Badges provide valuable information to a Customer when choosing the right Tasker for their tasks. When certain criteria are met, a badge is displayed on a member's profile.
It's important to keep in mind that badges are awarded based on a point-in-time check. This means that the results reflect the relevant records available on the date of verification. Customers can hover over your credential badges to view the verification date though some basic badges may not display a specific date.
As a Tasker, we encourage you to always be ready in case the customer requires your Background Check Badge before proceeding with the task. It is not required to have a Background Check Badge to operate on the platform.

Criminal Background Check

A Criminal Background Check Badge is only added to a member’s profile if they do not have a Disclosable Court Outcome as notified to Airtasker by a verification provider. The check is verified by a 3rd party verification provider, Checkr. The following details are verified:

Payment method
|
A member has added a payment method to their account. Please note that this represents that a payment method has been added. It does not indicate that payment credentials are verified.
|
Mobile number
|
A member has verified that they own the mobile number on their account. This is done by sending an SMS verification code to confirm the number is real and held by that member.
