Just so you know, this information applies within the United Kingdom ONLY.
Airtasker has general liability insurance in place that extends to include Taskers. Taskers are covered for their liability to 3rd parties for personal injury or property damage whilst performing activities (not otherwise excluded).
The liability insurance works on a claims-made and notified basis. When you are notified and lodge a claim, the terms and conditions on that date will apply to your claim – not those that may have been in use before that date.
Claims must be lodged within 30 calendar days of the date of the incident.
As a Tasker, please always remember that, as an independent contractor, you’re still primarily accountable for personal injury or damage caused by you to third parties – so please take care when completing tasks.
All coverage is subject to the policy’s terms and conditions, and there are exclusions that apply. As a Tasker, please make sure you’re aware of the details including whether the task you are about to perform is insured. FAQs and information on these terms and conditions can be found below.

How do I become eligible for coverage under the third-party liability insurance policy?
For a Tasker to be covered by the third-party liability insurance policy, the following conditions must be met:
(a) The Tasker (and any assistants) must be a registered member of Airtasker under the Airtasker platform; and
(b) The task must be completed and paid for through the Airtasker platform. Tasks paid via alternative means (including cash in hand) are not covered; and
(c) Personal injury or property damage must occur as a result of the task you have performed. Only injury to people other than the Tasker is covered. Anyone under the Tasker's control or supervision is not covered (unless they are also registered on Airtasker). Property damage is also covered but does not include property belonging to you or people under your control or supervision in performing these tasks.
No insurance cover applies if injury or property damage occurs as a result of:
- Deliberate or intentional acts by the Tasker
- Criminal activity or actions which are criminal by nature
- A Tasker injuring a person in their direct supervision or control who is an Airtasker Member or directly engaged by the Tasker to assist in completing the Task (this does not apply to the Customer)
- Poor workmanship, poor quality work, or cost to rectify work that is not ‘fit for purpose' unless such work has caused personal injury or property damage
There are other exclusions that apply to the policy.
There is no cover if injury or damage is caused by:
- Use of vehicles
- Use of watercraft
- Use of aircraft
- Use of firearms
- Legal or Financial advice or services
Does insurance apply if someone doesn’t like the work I have done?
No. The Insurance Policy does not cover poor or faulty workmanship, poor quality work or guarantee any work performed. Also, it does not cover you if the work you have completed fails to perform – e.g. you install a burglar alarm and it doesn’t work.
Costs incurred to rectify the work described above are also not covered by insurance.
What must a Tasker do in the event of damage or injury to a Customer or someone else whilst completing a task?
(a) Please contact support as soon as possible.
(b) Please keep in mind that insurance terms require the Tasker not to admit responsibility to third parties for loss whilst a claim is being investigated.
(c) The claims assessor will require details of how the injury or damage occurred. Please note down details of independent witnesses and take photos of the damage if appropriate.
(d) Airtasker Support will provide the Tasker with a claim form to lodge.
We also expect you to communicate promptly when we reach out to you for additional information related to an insurance claim. Otherwise, we may take action, including restricting your ability to make offers in the Airtasker marketplace or suspending your access to the marketplace.
What is an excess and how does it apply to me?
An excess is an amount of money you have to pay before cover is provided for a claim under the policy.
Where the claimed amount is less than the excess amount, the third-party insurance policy does not apply. In these cases, Airtasker may elect to settle with third parties. We do so as a matter of discretion, on a case-by-case basis in order to improve the overall user experience of the Airtasker platform.
Airtasker is under no obligation to provide this settlement, and in doing so we are not providing insurance.
Please note that the insured Tasker will be liable for the claim amount as settled with the claimant.
What happens if I get injured whilst completing the task?
If an injury has occurred while you are performing activities not otherwise excluded as part of a task on Airtasker, please contact us here. Our team can advise on your situation.
If you need medical attention, call an ambulance or your local emergency line.
Please note: this is a summary of the Airtasker third-party liability insurance policy ONLY. Nothing contained herein is general or personal advice.

Please also note that each Claim is subject to an Excess payable by the Tasker - full details of the Policy, its coverage and exclusions including the applicable excess details are available on request by the Tasker.
